Chainsaw man as a canon is full of blood, gore, and vore. Power specifically craves blood and has a devil's instincts to enjoy human fear and suffering. While on her leash she's unlikely to actually perpetrate violence against humans herself, but that doesn't mean she won't run her mouth about wanting to or celebrating their downfall. Her concept of empathy is next to nil for even those she considers alllies.
What I really feel like I must warn about with Power is gaslighting. Power is a compulsive liar, and while she's bad at it, that doesn't detract from the fact it will likely come up a lot in interactions with her. She's been known to straight up go 'that's your thing? no... that's my thing. why are you trying to steal my thing? thief!' She tries to alter the facts of reality to suit her own narrative.
That being said, this post acts as an opt-out for interactions with Power. If for any reason you don't want to deal with her, let me know the journals you wish for me to avoid in the comments! They are screened but not anonymous.
world setting;
Chainsaw Man takes place in a parallel modern Earth where the world is plagued by creatures known as devils. Devils are the embodiment of concepts that humans fear - blood, zombies, sharks, violence, spiders, leeches, etc - and from what we've seen there's only one devil per concept. The power level of devils is supposedly entirely dependent on how many people fear their concept. For example, two of the most powerful devils shown in CM (without getting into deep spoiler territory) are the Gun Devil (representing gun violence) and Darkness Devil.
Devils have differing abilities according to their type. They are able to make contracts with humans, consequently granting humans their power in exchange for something the two negotiate between themselves. Devils are bound completely to whatever their contract says, so it's the one way of guaranteeing a certain level of honesty/honor from them. It's said that the more human a devil appears the more friendly they are to humans. However, this means more along the lines of being more willing to make a contract and not kill/devour humans outright than actually being benevolent.
Devils are instinctively drawn to human fear and revel in their suffering. At best, they're controlled by institutions who would otherwise be able to destroy them if they didn't toe the line. The Public Safety Division in Japan is one such institution. They are a government-run body that has a branch of devil-hunters. Most of these hunters are humans that have made contracts with devils that the division has under their control.
Some of the agents, however, are fiends. Fiends are made when a devil possesses the body of a dead or dying human - usually dead - in a final act of trying to survive. Fiends usually keep the personality of the devil who possessed the corpse, though they lose their ability to grant contracts and their abilities are greatly diminished. They can be easily distinguished from normal humans by their heads, which have some unique feature - Power's horns, for example. Less relevant to Power, but still of interest, is the extremely rare existence of devil hybrids where for some reason unique to each hybrid a human and devil have co-mingled. The main example of this is the series protagonist, Denji, who possess a devil's heart and abilities yet still retains his own personality and humanity. I guess you could consider them a reverse fiend?
power;
Power is a fiend derived from the Blood Devil. She is considered to be a fiend of high intellect and rationality, which is just a lesson in relativity because... Compared to a human, Power is a nightmare to deal with. She craves violence, blood, and glory with her only restraints coming in the form of rules imposed by powers stronger than her own. Left to her own devices, she roamed the countryside as a feral beast trapped in a naked woman's body, killing at whim and glutting herself on blood of animals. When captured and forced to assimilate into a more human lifestyle, she was resistant to basic concepts like bathing and flushing the toilet, much to the dismay of her roommates.
She lies. A lot. She's a coward who will abandon her allies if she feels like her life is in danger. Really there's very few virtues about her in comparison. She does have a lot of energy, imagination, and she has been shown to do a good turn for those she feels indebted to without promptig. A soft spot for Power is undoubtedly her love for cats, who she seems to have unconditional affection towards. But she self-admittedly hates humans and devils alike, and she's so obnoxious it's hard to have anything to do with her, much less want to.
Power's abilities include being tough to kill and blood manipulation. As a fiend, she retains control of her own blood and uses it to make weapons for fighting. Some examples include knives, short swords, and a giant mallet. She is less able to control the blood of others, but it has been shown a few times that she's able to keep humans stable and from bleeding out as long as she's concentrating. Obviously as a full devil these abilities would be more powerful and far-reaching.
canon point; generally played from the anime, but I am up to date with the manga
backtagging; yes and probably necessary for me with larger threads
fight/violence scenes; I like writing them! don't be afraid to get gory. ask if you want to murder power, though death may not be the end for her like it is for a typical human
mind-reading; she doesn't have any defense against it and it'll probably be hilarious or disturbing
alternate universes; sure!
canon divergence; please feel free! I also like to play in the 'missing scenes' area of canon
shipping;
god, why would you...?
yes - f/f, m/f, makima, denji, aki, himeno, cross-canon
maybe - assumed cr, asa
no - kobeni, characters under 16
smut; with cr or if on smut-geared meme
kinks; open as long as it's not bathroom related or emeto
